INSTITUTION : Economics

History

Economy is the art of making the most out of the life. However the future life is unpredictable like a game of dice. To create the awareness about the predictions of the future date of the economy as well as business by having the knowledge of cons and prone of the economic activities of the economy and business the dept. of Economics Lorven Educational Center, was started in the year 2002.

Several ongoing of fluctuations in the Indian economy and world economy reinforce. The essential knowledge to be imparted in the minds of the students so as to cultivates the competitiveness to face the present dynamic world –Having this object, in the dept of economics functioning from 2002.

Admission

To seek the admission in the course of M.A economics the following university regulations has to be full filled.

Eligibility

A candidate who has passed Bachelor's degree with Economics as one of the subjects and securing a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in that subject is eligible for admission.

Duration of the Course

The M.A Economics has the duration of two years consisting four semesters. Each academic year shall comprise two semesters starting from July-August to Decembers and January to June.

Students Strength

The college has been permitted to intake 30 students for this course.

However 50%of the seats are filled by the university. We had and still maintain 100%

result in M.A Economics. We got ranks at university level, one in first batch for exam conducted in 2004. In the second batch(2005) one student passed SLET exam. She is one among total of 75 students clearing this exam in whole of Karnataka.

 

Number of Degrees awarded: 20

 

Scheme of Examinations and specialization

The university conduct  the examination at the end of the each semester. There shall be five papers in each semester. For each paper 90 marks allotted for university exam and to marks for internal assessment. In the first semester consisting four compulsory papers.

Calendar Events

To foster the all sound development in the students the dept of Economics conducting many events which promote the students efficiency and complacence.

The current events both at the state level and national level as well as international level do have impact on the  states economic policy and the nations economics policy thus up to date the current ongoing change in the economics policies many events that are considered as integral part of Dept Economics. Article, Review, Papers presentation seminars group discussions etc are conducted to boost the students knowledge.

To have the practical knowledge industrial visits are arranged and their experience in the visit has to be analyzed and interpreted in economic terms by applying different statistical and mathematical methods and computer knowledge .With all these for the entertainment college hosting, debate, quiz, essay competition, sports and many more  activities as cultural programmes are conducted in the  college.
